Studio Illumine's Innovative Facade Lighting: Office Tower

Winner of the Silver A' Lighting Products and Fixtures Design Award

The design was inspired by the architectural concept of OnCube. The team used the idea of juxtaposing volumes to create a unique lighting effect, highlighting the structure's volumes and grids. The result is a visually striking building that stands out in its surroundings.

What sets this design apart is its meticulous attention to detail. Each light fixture is strategically placed to serve a specific function, ensuring there are no unnecessary luminaries around the building. This approach results in a clean, elegant structure where the brightness of the light and the animations are well controlled.

The team used specialized, 360-degree LED projectors mounted at the base of each square bay to achieve this effect. This innovative approach allowed the team to precisely apply lighting on all four sides of the narrow structure, making the aluminum structure appear as if it has been lit from within.

The lighting fixtures used in this project are small and discreet, sourced from iGuzzini. The middle part of the structure features linear RGB color-changing light fixtures from Philips Lighting. The lighting animation evolves around the blue band, the only color piece in the design, creating a gradient effect that plays with the perception of the building's height and scale.

The project, which started in July 2014 and was completed in February 2017, faced several challenges. The most significant was finding a way to integrate the lighting solution seamlessly with the architecture. However, through collaboration and extensive research, the team was able to overcome this hurdle and create a design that has become a milestone for the public in the neighborhood.
